Add a key card or fob when you don't know its number

Not every fob has its number printed on it. Here's how to get the numbers from Brivo by scanning the card once, then add it to the right person.

Quick steps

  1. 1

    Scan the card

Have the person tap the card or fob at any reader on the account. It will be denied. That's expected, and it creates the record you need.

  2. 2

    Find the denied scan

In Brivo, open Users and choose Unknown Card Scans (under Credentials). The most recent scan is at the top.

  3. 3

    Copy the card's numbers

Write down the hex value, facility code, and card number from that scan.

  4. 4

    Add the card

Add a new card credential using those numbers.

  5. 5

    Assign it to the user

Open the user and assign the card. See the assign-a-credential guide.

  6. 6

    Test it

Tap the card at the reader again. It should now open the door.
