Un-assign and re-assign a Brivo Mobile Pass

When someone gets a new phone, the easiest fix is often for them to log in to the Brivo Mobile Pass app on the new phone with their Brivo account. If they never made an account, or the pass is lost, you can remove the old pass from their profile and assign a new one so Brivo emails a fresh invitation.

Quick steps

  1. 1

Check if the user can move the pass themselves

If the user created a Brivo Mobile Pass account, they can install the Brivo Mobile Pass app on the new phone and log in to restore their passes with no admin help. Try this first.

  2. 2

    Open the user's profile

In Brivo Access, go to Users > User Management on the left navigation bar, find the user (you can filter by name, status, or group), and click their name. Under Profile, confirm the email address is correct.

  3. 3

    Remove the old mobile pass

Scroll down to the Credentials section, find the existing Brivo Mobile Pass, and revoke or remove it, then save. Revoking takes effect right away and the pass returns to your available pool.

  4. 4

    Assign a new mobile pass

In the Credentials section, click Assign Credential (it says Assign Another Credential if the user already has other credentials), then click Mobile Pass. The Assign Mobile Pass window opens.

  5. 5

    Confirm email, language, and wallet

Make sure the right email address is selected, choose the language for the invite, and decide whether to also issue a Brivo Wallet Pass. The Add Wallet Pass box is checked by default.

  6. 6

    Send it

Click Assign Credential, then click Save Changes at the bottom right of the page. Brivo emails the user a new invitation.

  7. 7

User: install the app and open the email

On the new phone, the user installs Brivo Mobile Pass from the App Store or Google Play, opens the invitation email on that phone, and taps Add My Pass. The link expires in 7 days.

  8. 8

    User: create an account (recommended)

Brivo recommends the user create a Brivo Mobile Pass account with their email and a password, then tap Confirm Account in the verification email. Next time they change phones, they just log in on the new one.

  9. 9

If the link does not open

The user can open the app, tap Enter Invite Code, type the email and invite code from the invitation email, and tap Redeem Invite.

A Brivo Wallet Pass (Apple Wallet or Google Wallet) works differently from a Mobile Pass: once issued it is tied to the user and cannot be reassigned to someone else until the annual renewal date.

If the user deleted the invite email before setting up, delete the pending pass and assign it again to resend.
