Before you start

  • A Brivo Access login with permission to edit users
  • The resident already added in Brivo
  • The fob or card number, usually printed on it. If it isn't, use the unknown card guide.

Step by step

  1. 1

Sign in to your Brivo account at access.brivo.com.

  2. 2

Hover over Users in the left menu.

  3. 3

    Click Users.

  4. 4

Click the name of the resident who needs a key fob.

  5. 5

Scroll down to the Credentials section and click Assign Credential.

  6. 6

    Click Card.

  7. 7

Check Set Effective Date and Time Range.

  8. 8

Enter the date the credential should stop working, usually the last day of their lease.

Tip: Setting an end date means access stops on its own when the lease ends. No one has to remember to turn it off.

  9. 9

Search for the key fob number, then click Assign next to it.

  10. 10

    Click Assign Credential.

  11. Done. The key fob is now assigned to your resident.

Card still not opening the door?

  • Check the user's group. A credential only works on the doors their group is allowed to use.
  • Check the dates. Make sure the start date isn't in the future and the end date hasn't passed.
  • Check the card. Tap it at a reader and look for it under Unknown Card Scans. If it shows up there, it was assigned to a different number.
