Teaching local business owners has been part of who we are from the start. In late 2015, our founder was invited to share what he had learned building websites for small businesses.
The November 2015 talk
The Laker/Lutz News Business Digest listed Thomas Giella, then owner of Gear Spinners, as the guest speaker for the Greater Wesley Chapel Chamber of Commerce Lunch ‘N Learn. The details:
- When: November 19, 2015, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Where: the chamber boardroom in Wesley Chapel.
- Topic: how to make your website and social media deliver a return on your investment.
- Format: lunch included, with limited seating.
A follow-up on security in 2016
The chamber asked him back. The Laker/Lutz News reported that on May 19, 2016, Thomas led a Lunch ‘N Learn Business Forum at the same chamber on how to keep company websites and computer networks secure. Seating was capped at 15.
Looking back, the shift in topics says a lot. In six months the conversation moved from marketing results to protecting networks, which is the same path our company took as it grew from web design into IT and security.
We still believe the best way to help a local business is to explain things in plain language and answer questions face to face.
