The VPNFilter malware targets devices worldwide from Linksys, MikroTik, Netgear and TP-Link.

The Issue:

  • Hackers can now upload malicious software (virus) to certain brands of routers.

Why would they do this?:

  • Hackers will not only be able to turn your internet, more specifically WAN connection, off but also monitor your web activity.

The Fix: (This example is for Microsoft Word, but can be used for any program icon)

  • It is recommended that you reset your router back to factory settings so that the malware is removed.
  • Depending on the model of your router, your manufacturer may already have an update out to fix the malware issue. Please contact your manufacturer with your router model number for additional details.
